  1. While: “Enquanto” is commonly used to express a contrast or simultaneous action.
    “Ele trabalha enquanto ela estuda” (He works while she studies).
  2. Whereas: It is used to establish a comparison or opposition between two ideas or situations.
    “Ela gosta de ler, enquanto ele prefere assistir filmes” (She likes to read, whereas he prefers watching movies).
  3. During: “Enquanto” can also indicate a temporal duration.
    “Enquanto estive em Lisboa, visitei vários monumentos” (During my stay in Lisbon, I visited several monuments).
  4. As long as: It can express a condition or requirement for something to happen.
    “Podes jogar, enquanto te portares bem” (You can play as long as you behave well).
  5. Meanwhile: “Enquanto” can denote an action or event happening at the same time as another.
